“We have a tendency to look for wonder in our experience, and we mistake heroic actions for real heroes. It’s one thing to go through a crisis grandly, yet quite another to go through every day glorifying God when there is no witness, no limelight, and no one paying even the remotest attention to us. If we are not looking for halos, we at least want something that will make people say, ‘What a wonderful man of prayer he is!’ or, ‘What a great woman of devotion she is!’”

That is Oswald Chambers, who I love to read because he seems to consistently look to the matter-of-fact, simple things of faith. This song “Somewhere” got written because I want to shine a light on the every-day heroes we’ll never hear about. We could all probably name some of them; the never-married woman who has devoted herself to teaching inner city kids… the widower in China who worships God with power… the quiet, behind the scenes givers… the prayer warriors. This song hopes to be about them.

See if you enjoy this phone video of “Healing Day” from my first CD “All To You”. It was shot during the past year, including locations such as: my yard, The Mall of America, a souvenir shop in Virginia, somewhere on I-380, Pella, Wal-Mart, and the Johnson County Fair. Take that, Spielberg.

Coincidence? I THINK NOT. I’m assuming the “Ondes” part of the name means only about three people in the world can play this”. Okay, the real translation means “Martenot waves.” It was built up until 1988, the same year Dippin’ Dots was invented. Coincidence? Yes.

Here’s a new song. I pulled from some of the memories I have growing up, such as never learning to swim because we had lessons at 9 am in northwest Iowa when the water was just becoming un-thawed. I recall not liking that temperature. But the pool had great frozen Milky Way bars. This song also gave me the chance to find something to rhyme with “Jean Luc Picard”. You will have to listen to it to find out what that word is, but it is not as interesting as “Jean Luc Picard.” Yes, “Jean Luc Picard” is very interesting. I also did most likely ruin some valuable baseball cards in bike spokes (not while recording this song, however), although I was usually careful to use the Padres or some team like that, and I did race homemade boats a friend and I put together from scrap wood and spray painted, because I was a nerd.

You can download the song as part of the rather large package of all my music here.
